~プログラミング言語のすすめ~

渡辺創太さん(27)。彼が今、世界を変えつつあることをご存知ですか？

世界最大の暗号資産投資会社から日本人初で融資を受けたのが2021年2月。ウェブの民主主義革命は起こるかと期待されています。

In February 2021, he became the first Japanese to receive a loan from the world’s largest crypto asset investment company. The democratic revolution of the web is expected to happen.

「独占から分散へ。『Web3』の実現を目指す26歳 渡辺創太の原動力」

GAFAに代表されるようにデータが「独占」された中央集権が‛Web2’。渡辺さんが推進する‛Web3’では「分散化」が肝。先月末に渡辺さんは会社のあるシンガポールから、一時帰国してテレビ東京の番組・経済ニュースアカデミーで「今さら聞けないWeb３とDAO」と題して豊島晋作キャスターと対談しています。この中で渡辺さんは幕末の藩財政になぞらえて説明しています。

Centralised data ‘monopoly’ as typified by GAFA is ‛Web2′. In ‛Web3′, which Mr Watanabe is promoting, ‛decentralisation’ is the key. At the end of last month, Mr Watanabe temporarily returned from Singapore, where his company is located, to talk with Shinsaku Toyoshima, anchor of TV Tokyo’s Economic News Academy, on a programme entitled ‘Web3 and DAO, which you can’t ask me about now’. In this interview, Mr Watanabe explains the situation by comparing it to the clan finances at the end of the Tokugawa Shogunate.

筆者（サファイアオンライン寺子屋）が渡辺さんのエストニア／フィンランドスタディツアーに同行したのは2019年9月。あれから3年。世界は社会的にも地政学的にも大きく変貌しています。

この番組の結びに、自身も若い渡辺さんが若い人々に「技術者になる必要性はないけれどコーディングがわかるようになってもらいたい。正しくその技術のポテンシャルと方向性、未来がどうなるのかを予測する能力が大事」と話しています。
In concluding this programme, Mr Watanabe, himself a young man, told the young people, “You don’t have to be an engineer, but I want you to be able to understand coding. The ability to correctly predict the potential and direction of the technology and what the future holds is important”.

サファイアオンライン寺子屋では、MWI（Mentoring Workshop for Information) として全国どこからでもプログラミング言語を学べるワークショップを提供しています。その中核を担うのが、大学生・大学院生メンター(講師)。小学生から大学生までを対象にプログラミング言語（C言語, Python）の学びを提供しています。

Sapphire Online Terakoya offers a Mentoring Workshop for Information (MWI), which provides workshops for learning programming languages from anywhere in Jaan. At the core of the programme are university and graduate student mentors (instructors). The workshops provide learning of programming languages (C, Python) for students from primary schools to university.

Professor *Valentina Dagiene from the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, Vilnius University (Republic of Lithuania), who advised us on the aforementioned tour, as well as Professor Mart Laanpere from the Faculty of Digital Engineering, Tallinn University (Republic of Estonia), who was our guide and other teachers who are active in computer science education around the world. We are also continuously supported by them.

さて、渡辺さんの活躍は、幕末から明治初期に活躍していた「前田正名」を想起させます。（筆者の感想です）

前田正名は薩摩藩医の子として1850年に生まれる。近代日本への胎動の中で、向学心に燃える正名は、16歳の時に藩費で長崎に遊学。語学塾に籍を置くとともに、坂本龍馬や後に明治に活躍する人々と交流を持った。長崎遊学中の正名の大きな関心事は、洋行して西洋文明に触れること。明治2年、20歳の時にそれを実現することになる。正名は在仏総領事に同行して初めてフランスに渡った。この留学は7年間の長きにわたるものとなった。帰国後、正名は明治政府の内務、大蔵、農商務など各省の枢要な地位で活躍する。日本に特許庁を開いたのも正名。しかし、彼の業績は、農家主体の大衆的ベンチャー企業興しと言っても過言ではない。福岡県南部八女地方では八女茶や和紙など特産品や地場産業が発展した。山梨県のブドウ栽培、甲州ワインの振興。阿寒湖畔の植林など枚挙にいとまがない。「地方創生」をいちばん最初に言ったのも正名。彼は「後の世の春をたのみて植え置きし人の心の桜をぞ見る」の歌を遺した。ここに彼の生き様が凝縮されている。ちなみに正名がフランス留学の費用を工面するために、仲間と３人で、我が国初の活版印刷の英和辞書を作ったことを知る人は少ない。
