Dr Jin Koda (Associate Professor, Faculty of Astrophysics, State University of New York)
will give a special lecture on ‘Cosmic expansion and formation of the Milky Way galaxy.’
At 8:00-9:00 Tuesday, 11th of August (Japan Time),
At 19:00-20:00 (NY Time), At 9:00-10:00 (Australia Eastern Time)
At 2:00-3:00 (Baltic States Time), At 1:00-2:00 (Central Europe Time)
In this lecture, I would like to consider the time and the beginning and the spread of space. The universe began with an explosion called a big bang and is still expanding. Structures such as galaxies and stars were born in the expanding outer space. After explaining the Big Bang universe, I will talk about the formation and evolution of the Milky Way galaxy in which we live. The evolution of the universe has been elucidated using knowledge of physics. In understanding physics, it is important to combine the phenomena of the universe with familiar experiences. In this lecture, I will try to explain about the universe by using familiar cases.
