この4月　華道の国際イベントのため　ヘルシンキからフィンランド人の師範を迎える予定でした。楽しみにしていたのですが　想像もしない状況となりました。

今年はオリ・パラ年だったということもあり　来日を楽しみにされている方はほかにもいらっしゃいます。私が教育・文化を通じて知り合った人は　英語圏以外の人が多いのですが　コミュニケーションはやはり英語に頼らざるを得ません。

英語学習において　以前は「話す・聴く」を重視する教育がもてはやされましたが　膨大な量から情報を読み取る必要が出てきたのか　最近では「読む・書く」も含めバランスよく学ぶことを求められています。英語学習にはなぜ「コンピュータ的思考」が必要なのか　少し考えてみたいと思います。

英語の筆記試験によくみられる「並べ替え」「書き換え」「空所補充」「3択・4択」はもはや英語ではありません。
それは「コンピュータ的思考」の範疇に入ってきます。よく「英語はできると思っていたのに英検で○○級に合格できない」と聞きます。こういう人こそ「コンピュータ的思考」を鍛える必要があるのです。

「コンピューター的思考」を鍛える学びには、符号化・暗号化、アルゴリズム的思考　コンピュータシステム　表計算　構造・パターン・配置　グラフなどの組み合わせ　論理パズルなどが含まれます。

ここで「ビーバーチャレンジ」の問題にチャレンジしてみましょう。

【ストーリー】
なんてこった！ 有名なブルーダイヤモンドが今日博物館から盗まれました。泥棒が緑色の安い模造品に交換されました。
ダイヤモンドルームを訪れたのは 2000 人。 彼らは一人ずつ入館しました。
検察官ベブロは　これらの訪問者の何人かを尋問して泥棒を見つけなければなりません。
彼は部屋に入った順番で 2000 人の訪問者全員のリストを持っています。
彼は一人ひとりに同じ質問をします：「あなたがそれを見たとき　ダイヤモンドは緑でしたかそれとも青でしたか？」
ダイヤモンドはすでに緑色であると言う泥棒を除いて　各人は正直に答えます。

④何も約束できません。 私が非常に運が悪い場合は　すべての訪問者に問い合わせる必要があるかもしれません。

「アルゴリズム」というのは　コンピュータで計算を行うときの「計算方法」のことなんですが 「やり方」を工夫して　より良いやり方を見つけようというのが　アルゴリズムの研究です。同じ計算を行うんだったら　いい方法でやればより速く計算できるということです。二分探索もそのいい例です。

これはさまざまな関連分野において「問題」を解くための手順を定式化した形で表現したものであり　コンピューティング数学に限らず言語学はじめ　文章を書いたり　部屋の整理整頓など日常生活にも十分使えるのです。

We were planning to welcome a Finnish teacher from Helsinki for an international flower arrangement event. I was looking forward to seeing her, but we are in the situation I could not imagine.
Since this year was the year of Olympic-Paralympic in Tokyo, there are those who are looking forward to coming to Japan. Many of the people I met through education and culture are outside the English-speaking world, but I have to rely on English for communication.

In learning English,  “speaking and listening” education was made much of before, but now it has become necessary to read information from a huge amount. Recently, it is required to learn in a well-balanced manner including “reading and writing.” I’m going to think about why “computing thinking” is necessary for learning English.

“Sorting,” “Rewriting,” “Vacancy replenishment,” and “3 or 4 choices,” which are often found in English written tests, are no longer ‘English’.
It falls into the category of “computing thinking.” I often hear, “I thought that I could speak English, but I can’t pass ‘EIKEN’ (Major English proficiency test in Japan).” It needs training “computing thinking.”

Learning to train “computing thinking” includes encoding / encryption, algorithmic thinking, computer system spreadsheets, combinations of structure / pattern / arrangement graphs, and logical puzzles.

This is a formalized expression of the procedure for solving “problems” in various related fields. Not only computing, mathematics and inguistics, but also any problems in daily life such as writing sentences, organizing rooms can be used.
