休校が始まって間もなく丸２か月になります。学校関係者のご努力にもかかわらず　この間に児童生徒の学力の格差が確実に拡がっています。

私の見立てでは　児童生徒の取り組みもさることながら　日本は　欧米やほかの東アジア諸国とは　学校と家庭のコミュニケーションの量と質が決定的に違っています。このことが今回コロナ感染をめぐる対応に於いて明確になりました。

学校と児童生徒がオンラインで授業を行うだけでなく　学校と各家庭がICTで繋がること。つまり　この三者がオンラインで「透明性」を持って繋がっていること。新型コロナの第1波が収束してきたときに　教育関係者が着手しなければならない最重要課題です。これができれば毎日通学する必要性が減ることになるかもしれませんね。

話題になっている「9月入学」も議論するなら今ですが　それよりも優先順位の高いのがこの問題「学校、児童生徒、家庭が透明性を持って繋がる」ということを強く訴えたいと思います。

さて　先に学力の格差について述べましたが　ここでいう学力というのは何も教科科目だけをお話ししているのではありません。この2か月に私たちが「コンピュータ的思考」について取り組んできましたが、この学びもその中に含まれています。

お陰様で全国の　特に小学低学年の児童のみなさんに多くチャレンジしていただいたのはうれしい限りです。ありがとうございました。

現在の小学低学年のみなさんは　2050年には社会で大活躍されているはずです。みなさんにはこの「コンピュータ的思考」についてもっと学んでほしいと思います。特にこれまでお話ししてまいりましたエストニア・フィンランドなどを含む欧米や東アジア諸国ではこの10年にこの分野に力を入れてきています。教科にないだけに　これはもう自分で学ぶしかないのです。しかし　私たちサファイアでは　その学びの普及に努め　サポートしてまいります。

今日は休校中に出題された「ビーバーチャレンジ」の問題から一つ選んで　東京大学理学部情報科学科の大学生に動画で解説をしていただきます。もっと多くの課題にチャレンジしたい方がいらっしゃいましたらご連絡ください。

It’s almost two months since the holidays started. Despite the efforts of the school personnel, the gap in the academic ability of children and students has widened steadily during this period.

In my view, the amount and quality of communication between schools and families is decisively different in Japan from in Western countries and other East Asian countries, not to mention the efforts of children and students. This was clarified this time around the response to corona infection.

Not only schools can give lessons to students online, but schools and each family can be connected by ICT. In other words, these three must be connected online with “transparency”. This is the most important issue for educators to undertake when the first wave of the new Coronavirus has converged. If this can be done, it may reduce the need to go to school every day.

It is now time to discuss the topic of “admission in September”, but I want to emphasize that this issue that “schools, students, families are connected transparently” has a higher priority than any other issue.

By the way, I mentioned the disparity in scholastic ability above, but the scholastic ability here is not just talking about subjects. We’ve been working on “computing thinking” in the last couple of months, and this lesson is part of that.

Thanks to you, I am glad that many children in elementary and lower grades challenged all over the country. Thank you very much.

The current elementary school lower grades should have been very active in society by 2050. I want you to learn more about this “computing thinking.” Especially in the West and East Asian countries including Estonia and Finland, which I have talked about so far, we have been focusing on this field for the last 10 years. Since I am not in the subject, I have to learn this myself. However, we at Sapphire will endeavor to spread the learning and support it.

Today, we will select one of the “Beaver Challenge” tasks that were given during the school holidays and have a video explanation by a college student in the Department of Information Science, Faculty of Science, the University of Tokyo.
